CANNED BLUES
Canned Blues are a trio of musicians who have played separately and together over many years.
Bob Wilkinson and Jon (of local blues/rock band “Little Mountain”), together with guitarist and cajon-slinging Paul Moore (of local blues band “Built for Comfort”) came together to play a mixture of the rock and blues numbers they love. Originally inspired by the music of Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee, Big Bill Broonzy, Cephas and Wiggins, Guy Davis and early Rolling Stones, this was the birth of Canned Blues.
On guitar and lead vocal, Bob’s influences extend from early blues masters through to Chicago blues, and into post bebop jazz. On blues harmonica, Jon leans into acoustic and electric blues, with a fondness for Charlie Musselwhite and Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee. On percussion and guitars, Paul brings influences such as Steve Earle and a bit of western swing.
